Q1: What do I need to do?

A: To convey a consistent brand externally, each associate should download one of the email signature templates from the approved list found on the Live Our Brand section of InSide.

Q2: Why is this important?

A: Using official signatures will:

properly identify Nationwide in outbound emails
help maintain a consistent brand standard, and
address compliance requirements for company email

Q3: Which signature should I use?

A: Official email signatures are available in several formats that allow flexibility to specify the contact information that is most useful you.

Q4: Can I alter the signatures?

A: The goal is to strengthen Nationwide's brand so it's inappropriate to alter approved signatures by adding slogans, promotional messages, graphics, photos or other visuals. They compete with the Nationwide logo, dilute our brand and may place the company at risk. It is not appropriate to add buttons or links to social media channels (whether for personal or business use), unless it is a group program that has been created for specific marketing purposes.

Q5: Can I include other information such as my mailing address or compliance disclosure?

A: The signature template is flexible enough to allow additional information that your department has determined to be important. Most contact with our business partners is through phone or email. However, if a mailing address helps your unit conduct work more efficiently, it is acceptable to add it. Some work groups may choose to include helpful customer information such as a secondary contact or phone number for after- hours assistance, or add securities language required by compliance.

Q6: Can I include my professional designations in my signature?

A: Approved professional designations may be included, immediately following and on the same line as the associates name.

Q7: I own a Nationwide policy. Can I indicate that I am a member of Nationwide?

A: The customizable area of the template already includes "Proud Nationwide Member" that you can display to show member status if you own any of our products or services. If you do not own any products, simply leave the field blank.

Q8: How can I personalize my email signature?

A: The N and Eagle represents the company, so it won't be necessary to repeat the Nationwide name in the variable fields in most cases. For example, enter Pet Insurance, not Nationwide Pet Insurance. Ask your manager if you are uncertain about the appropriate way to display your division name. By customizing your title, division and contact information, you create a personalized Nationwide email signature.

Q9: Can I add a campaign theme or graphic to my email signature?

A: Campaign themes are important marketing messages that will be used in other communications. Think of email in the same way as you think of business cards. There is limited space and the company brand should be prominently displayed along side your personal contact information.

A: Much like our individual names, pronouns are tied to our sense of identity. They articulate who we are and how the outside world should recognize and address us. Q11: Why is there a border around my email signature?

A: If you are using the Chrome browser, there will be a line created around the signature. You can open the tool in another browser and start the process over or you can right click on the email signature in Outlook after you have pasted it there, and remove the borders there.
